Checking out the Ice Caves

It all began…

November 4, 2006. I had just returned back to The Dalles after 4 months of being away living in Phoenix. With all the stress of the quick move, and knowing there was a lot to catch up on in my friends lives, we headed out to a local sports bar to enjoy a few drinks. It was there that I spotted a friend talking to Michael. Being the brave girl I am (or at least after a couple of drinks) I walked up and said “HI! I’m Jess. Who are you?” as I stuck my hand out to give his a shake. “I’m Michael,” he replied. As my friends danced, I stuck around with him, talked, and started to get to know each other a little. By the end of the night, we had enjoyed out first drink together, our first walk, and our first sunrise walk.

In January of 2007, Jessica moved out of her parents house and in to the house Michael was sharing with a couple of roommates. It was on the outskirts of town, on a farm - horses, hay, the whole thing. After only a short 2 months living there, we moved in with some other friends that had a house in town, closer to work, and just easier to deal with in general… for the most part. This stay only lasted a little over a month, when we then moved in with my parents. We were able to stay in the finished basement, which was so close to having our own place of our own. We are very grateful to have had the chance to stay there, with the love and support of my family. img001491

In November of 2007, we finally got our own place! It just so happened that a coworker of mine had a small duplex for rent, and it was just the right price and size for the moment. Nov 3 we finally moved the little bit of stuff we had in to our home, and started fresh again. It may be small, and not the fanciest place around, but it is ours no matter what - for now! We have now been here for over a year, but with the little one on the way, I can’t help but dream of a bigger place. Someday! :)
