Monthly Update!

We are getting close! Tomorrow I will be 30 weeks along - TEN WEEKS LEFT! I can’t believe it. It feels like just a couple of months ago I found out we are expecting, and now I am down to the final leg. I start seeing the doctor more often - went from every 4 weeks, to every 3. After that I will start going every 2 weeks, and then my last month will be every week! It’s so hard to believe. We have all of the necessities picked out, ordered, or on layaway. Crib, bedding, stroller and car seat… it feels so nice to have things figured out. Now maybe we should start on some diapers, we may be needing a few of those here and there :)

The baby is doing great. She is still movin’ and shakin’ a lot, but I can tell it’s starting to slow down as she runs out of room. Instead of the gentle pokes and wiggles, it’s more like a hard karate chop and ninja roll. Seriously, this little girl can do some crazy things!

As time goes on, I am getting more and more worn out, but am trying to push through the work days as much as possible. Some days are just impossible! It’s been very hard lately, I feel like no one believes me when I say “I just can’t do it today”. The house is a mess, laundry is folded, but still in the baskets, and dishes, ugh, I can’t even force myself to stand there and do them! I am hoping the “nesting” stage will kick in and I can get things done and back to normal! :)

EMAIL UPDATE!!!

Michael and I now have a “joint” email address to help family get in touch with both of us! Please feel free to send any emails to mejascherer@gmail.com. He may not check it often, but I will daily and be able to tell him to give it a look!  :)

Thanks to every one for all the love and support through everything these past few months. It’s definitely been an experience, but one that is going to bring such a welcome addition to our family - LiliAnn Faye will be here before we know it!

It’s been too long…

And requests for an update are being made. So here I go!

I am officially Jessica Ann Scherer! Michael and I enjoyed our very simple ceremony at the court house here in The Dalles on February 13, 2009. As was said before, we figure that money can be better spent on stuff for our little girl. So the court house it was! We were joined by my parents, Kim, Michaels dad, and one of Michaels good friends Henry and his fiance and little girl. It was short and sweet, exactly what we wanted. In a few years, probably around our 5 year anniversary, we plan on having a bigger ceremony that we would love all of our friends and family to attend. After the ceremony, we all enjoyed a nice lunch at Tijuana, one of our favorite places to chow down. It was such a nice day. The next day, Michael and I spent some good quality time together in Portland doing some shopping, eating, and relaxing. We rarely get days off together, not to mention getting a chance to head out of town, so we jumped on the opportunity to do both. It really made the perfect end to our little day.

The baby is doing great. She is quite the handful though, which has me hoping she will be a perfect little angel when she comes out. If only! The morning sickness is pretty much gone, though I do have days off and on where eating just isn’t an option at all. Headaches have been my #1 battle in the past month. Prepregnancy I would get horrible migraines, but I was able to tackle them with medications. With the little one inside me, I’m stuck to good ‘ol Tylenol which unfortunatly barely puts a dent in the pain. Needless to say, I’ve had quite a few days recently of staying home, in bed or on the couch, just wishing my head would stop pounding! On top of that, I’ve been having horrible sleep problems! I know it is part of pregnany, and especially the last leg, but it’s killing me! I feel so tired all the time, but when I go to lay down, falling asleep just isn’t happening. Based on this, and what is to come with the rest of the pregnancy, I have decided to cut my hours back slightly. I am only working 30 hours a week now - which may not seem like that big of a change, but having a 3 day weekend every week is surely going to be nice! One extra day to get the cleaning, laundry, and errands done… just more time in general to do nothing and relax!

I will post pictures of the wedding and updated baby bump pictures soon!

Such a wonderful day!!

Today was the day Michael and I were getting our marriage license and wedding rings. YAY! I took a vacation day from work so we wouldn’t have to rush around on lunch breaks, and I am so glad I did! We didn’t start off too early - slept in, took our time getting ready, and yes, I did get my breakfast this morning. :) We finally were off to Kay Jewelers in hopes of finding something in our budget. Michael and I decided that we weren’t going to spend a whole lot on rings. We don’t need anything fancy, and we definitely have better things to spend money on right now! After the usual “If you apply for Kays credit…!” and the annoying lady showing me nothing but rings that were WAY above budget, she finally pulled out a very simple ring that will get the job done! (I couldn’t get any clear pictures to come out, so as soon as I get one, I will post it!). Then we were off to the court house - that was fun. We got there, and was told they don’t take debit or checks, so we get the application and head to the bank. We finally made it back, and, they were closed for lunch! Of course the lovely gentleman for the County Clerk forgot to mention they close for lunch from 12-1… I guess we’ll come back later! After a quick trip home, and a couple of minutes of laying down, we headed back to the court house. So, at 11:30 a.m., February 13th, Michael and I will become man and wife!

After we were done at the court house, we hit Taco Bell for a quick lunch (which was… wonderful…), then off to Hood  River we went! Michael had seen a ring at Wal Mart that he liked, and would do him just fine for the time being. We didn’t spend much more then 10 minutes in the store, and we were off again. It was such a beautiful day today - chilly, probably no more then 50 degrees with a brisk breeze - but there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. So nice! We decided to bring Torro down to the river to run around a little, and boy did he love it! Spending some time in the fresh air did us both good, and soaking in the beatiful weather was the perfect ending to a wonderful day!

Gross… why?!

I open the door to my house after work today… and was hit with the smell of, cat box! Ugh, nasty. I took Torro out to do his deed, and he was surely acting funny. After about 25 minutes of giving him the pep talk “Good boy, go potty!”, he was ready to go in. Thank you! In we went, straight to the kitchen to get a treat - because he’s a good boy, right? Go to the living room, turn on the light… and there’s the contents of the cat box, all - over - my - living room. I’m not even supposed to empty a cat box while being a pregnant, now I get to slap on the rubber gloves, and clean it off my floor.

Needless to say - my not so good of a day went even more downhill. The dishes are still soaking, and probably will be until the morning. Thank God I have tomorrow off from work, I need a break from the insanity of my every day life - and could use a good home cooked breakfast from Michael. :)

It’s a GIRL!

Yesterday we had our second ultrasound. They ask you to show up with a full bladder (which is NOT nice to ask of a pregnant woman) but of course I was sick all morning, and couldn’t keep anything down, not even water. The nurse asked if I had a full bladder, and I said yes… at least it felt that way. Oh well… The doctor started the scan, and immediately saw that I was running on empty, completely empty. Right away he said he may not be able to get good shots, but off he went. He said the baby was down really far, so of course I asked if that was OK. He said yes, that if anything was wrong he would tell me. Well fine then, I’ll just lay here and be quite! It was amazing to see our little one moving around in “real time”. Feeling the punches and kicks and seeing them as it happend was absolutly awesome. One of the best feelings ever. He couldn’t get a good shot of much, but he did get a clear shot of  the genitals.

It’s not the best shot, but he is 100% sure! So in a matter of a few months, we will be welcoming LiliAnn Faye in to this world!!! Everyone thought it was going to be a boy, but surprise! :) I am very very excited to be having a girl first - my little princess - my LiliBug!

Half way there!

Today marks the 20 week point for Peanut… half way there baby! I am finally feeling better, at least from the viral infection. I’m absolutely exhausted from everything, and feel like it is a struggle to get through the day with out a nap. I’m managing though! Lately it has been work, then come home and lay down… and not move the rest of the night. What is even better - Michael doesn’t want me to do anything but rest! I won’t argue! Tomorrow is the big day, we will be finding out what this lil one is at about 10am! We are so very excited to finally be able to put a name to the kicks and punches! :)

20weeks - half way!

20weeks - half way!

Yep, still sick.

About midday Saturday,  I started to get my lovely cough - the deep, hacking, sounds like I’m tearing my throat to shreds cough. I knew I was in for something good. It didn’t get any better that night, and of course Michael got home from work feeling the same way. Wonderful! Sure enough, about 4am Sunday, the vomiting started, and by 11, I knew it was time to head to the ER. With not being able to keep anything in my system, I got very dehydrated very quickly.

Michael drove me to the ER. They brought me right in to a room. That is one thing I can say about the hospital in this town, they take care of a pregnant women fast! They stuck an IV in my arm, gave me some nausea medication, and we waited. I had horrible back pains, which I now believe was caused from both the coughing and being so dehydrated. They couldn’t give me anything, not for the cough or the pain. Absolutely horrible. They ran a UA, didn’t find anything wrong. Took an xray because they thought it was pneumonia, thankfully that came back ok. Oh, and they took blood, nothing on that either other then my potassium being low. The doctor determined it is a viral infection, which they can’t do anything for even if I wasn’t pregnant. So 2 liters of fluids, 3 Tylenol (that will probably cost me $15 a pop) and 5 hours of laying in the worlds most uncomfortable bed, I was on my way home. They gave me a prescription for Vicodin for the cough and aches - but was then told it would sedate the baby. No thank you!

It’s now Tuesday, and I’m still sick. I was out of work today, and it looks like tomorrow will be the same case. My sinuses are burning, and it feels like an ear infection is brewing. It is so difficult to feel this way. They can’t give you anything when you are pregnant! I’m not the most pleasant sick person when I CAN take something, so I can only imagine how hard I am to deal with right now. All I can do is keep my fingers crossed that this passes soon. Time for a nap!

I’m begining to think…

That my cat is a strange, strange kitty. I walked in to the bedroom - which was completely dark at the time - flicked on the light, and this is what I found. Oh Tiger… how silly you are…

Peanut is Growing!

I am now 18weeks 3 days along, and finally am starting to show a little. Maternity jeans have been a must for almost a month now, but mainly because my old jeans were putting pressure in all the wrong places, and definitely not helping my morning sickness. Everything seems to be going good now! My energy is up slightly and I am able to get more done around the house. Let me tell you, that is a good feeling! It was very hard to come home from work, and just have no energy to do anything. There were many days when I would come home, plop on the couch (or more likely the bed) and I was done for the night.

Our little one is starting to move around quite a bit also! I don’t feel him/her all the time, but every so often, I feel a little thunk or flutter. Sometimes it feels like Peanut is inside flicking his finger against my uterus - “HA! Take that… and THAT!”. Thanks baby… you’re gonna be handful, I can tell. :)

Wedding Update

With all that is going on in our lives this year, and especially in the next 6 months, we have made some adjustments to our wedding plans. Originally we were headed to Vegas to get married at the Valley of Fire and take in some of what Vegas has to offer in April. With the news of the baby on the way, I decided that walking around Las Vegas when I would be about 7 months pregnant just wasn’t the best option. With this being said… Michael and I will be getting married on February 13th (yes, Friday the 13th) at the court house here in The Dalles. My parents and sister will be there to be our witnesses, and of course if any one would like to see us exchange vows, we would love to see you. After the very simple ceremony, we will head to dinner with the family, and take in our first meal as husband and wife. :)

Though a nice get away would be nice for the two of us, we decided that spending what we would have spent on gas, hotel, and food - we’re going baby shopping! By that time, we will know what we are having, and can really dive in to start spoiling our peanut.

It may not be what I’ve always dreamed of, but it is perfect for us right now. It is very important to me to be married before the baby comes, and this was definitlythe easiest way to do it. Who knows, maybe in a couple of years, when we have our ring bearer or flower girl, we will have a nice ceremony and we can celebrate with all of our friends and family!
